Did they work together on these, or did one put theirs up after the other?

Either way this is great and if they did work together this is even more ingenious.

You are right about this campaign, I love it. Every time the commercial comes on I want to watch it or I might even wait to FF on the DVR. Another great thing it does is allows them to associate themselves with all cool trending things. Right now x is Twittering etc. Anytime you can indirectly associate your company with great new technologies and popular sites it is a winner.

Thanks for the post.

Viral is effective because it's considered a word to mouth form a friend or acquaintance reliable recommendation and not seams to be a sale made by
the product/service owner.
That boost the effectivness of the campaign in 100's percents more and get's much more exposure.

I like both sets of spots independently, but do you think their differing tones work together to form a cohesive brand identity/voice?

This is a great - simple - lesson in how the power of 'old media' still has a part to play in brand strategy. We get so obsessed with what we are all doing online, we must never neglect the offline stuff. It's also a good example of how a picture tells a story, hence its stickability online...

But what's so great about the first ad is the girl who SAYS the delicious line.

Close your eyes, then when you hear her voice, open your eyes just enough to see the girl. Then immediately close them.

Is she a child or an old woman with a high voice?

Augmented Reality is a great new trend. There has been a resurgence of 3D media in 2009, and AR is the most original use I have seen in a while.
